Minako Namikaze is the daughter of the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki. She was born before Minato was promoted to Hokage. She was present during the attack of Konoha from the Nine Tailed fox at the age of eight, she had already achieved Chunin level. Her Sensei was Shikaku Nara (Shikamaru's father) and sometimes joined the first generation of Ino-Shika-Cho on missions.
Minako has lead mutiple missions since the age of seven although many people who were included on said missions were uncomfortable with someone so young being in charge.
During her childhood, Minako followed the Shinobi way strictly and never let her emotions be shown to others besides her parents and godfather Jiraiya. After her parents died she became even colder eventaully letter her emotions build up inside her only to blow up at the only person she seemed to be close to.
At the age of thirteen Minako decided to leave Konoha to 'find' herself and to try and run away from the past that hunts her. Before she left she release all her anger on Iruka Umino, the only person she had let get close to her after her parents death.
Minako blocks out many memories of her past, refusing to acknowledge them because of the way people treated her as the 'honorable daughter' of the fourth hokage, and because of the many deaths she had witnessed and or caused since she became a Kunoichi. Because of these surpressed memories Minako suffers from nightmares at least once a week, sometimes while she's having these nightmares she'll sleepwalk and travel to places without her knowing only to have her wake up not knowing where she is.
When she returned to Hidden Leaf Village after her seven year absense Minako had gone through a dramatic personality change now showing emotions and teasing Iruka every chance she gets but she can still be the cold hearted person she once was.
Every year for her birthday she recieves a book or a short story from Jiraiya in which he wrote because like her father she rather enjoyed reading her godfather's writing. The day of her eighteenth birthday was the same day the first of the Icha Icha series came out :Icha Icha paradise. As a joke Jiraiya sent the first copy printed, autographed by himself to Minako which began her love for the erotic novels, although she is known to make fun of Jiraiya for writing them and always calling him a pervert.

When she was younger she held a grudge towards Naruto because of her mother's and father's death even though it wasn't his fault.

Despite her father having been Kakashi Hatake's sensei, Minako didn't meet him until she came back after her seven year leave when her brother was assigned to his team. They didn't think anything of it at first but slowly they formed a relationship.

Kakashi was the first person to see Minako cry since her parents died after the third Hokage's death and Orochimaru summoned the Hokage's. Minako was very thankful the Third Hokage had stopped him before he was able to summon her father.

As a child her dream was to become Hokage like her father and eventually surpass him. Although she still wants to pursue that goal, she now wishes to have a family to make up for the one she lost.
